A recent discover has completely transformed every room in my house, my cuisine, and my medicine cabinet. It's incredible to have a line of completely non-invasive product that can be applicable to most places in your life. Essential oils are aromatic compounds that are organically found in nature. Their distinctive scents can be both familiar and unfamiliar to our senses. Besides their powerful fragrance, essential oils have extremely beneficial properties for our health. Each oil is distinct in it's usage and unique reaction with the body. For centuries people have been using them in culinary recipes, beauty treatments, and health care practices.
You may have passed oils in the beauty section of Whole Foods a few times and taken a whiff...or maybe your yoga teacher rubbed Lavender on your neck while you were in shavasana. The first thing to know is that there are different grades of quality. While Aromatherapy grade are fine for use in say a massage treatment, Certified Therapeutic Grade oils are the best to use everyday because of their pure distilling process and medicinal effects. With hundreds and hundreds of pure and blended oils, I'm certainly no expert on the their applications just yet. However, by investing in doterra's essential oils and taking the time to do some reading, those sacred liquids have started to permeate every part of my daily routine. Thinking about switching up your perfume to something more natural? Want a way less invasive way to prevent viruses from your environment? Here's a little intro course on a few oils you can keep in your home to use as tools for just about anything!
Although not an essential oil, coconut oil is very necessary to use with other oils. Fractionated coconut oil (the kind that won't harden) is used to dilute essential oil blends. Un-fractionated coconut oil can also be melted and mixed with oils and then congealed to create a salve for topical application. Many oils may be too concentrated for internal consumption or topical application. Coconut oil acts as a carrier for the more potent oils. As an added bonus, it's moisturizing, antimicrobial, and aids in digestion.

A diffuser combines a humidifier, air purifier, and scent freshener in one. Using a diffuser is the best way to use oils aromatically. The water vapor release the fragrance into your entire room and permeates anything unwanted that's hanging out in the air. I use my diffuser constantly. I just change the oils in the water, depending on what I feel my body needs.
