The leaves turn from bright succulent greens to warm golden hues of orange, red, and yellow. The air turns from thick humid heat, to a cool, crisp breeze. The best thing about fall is the clear onset of change. It's historically a time of harvest and starting over, and I feel each fall somehow always brings a great deal of transformation into my life. At first I hesitate to accept the new schedules, relationships, or workloads, but then just as the trees begin to release their leaves in October and November, I begin to let go and see the beauty in everything that has transpired since the previous fall.
The equinox has spoken and now we can officially rejoice because yesterday marked the calendar as the first official day of autumn! The changes have already begun to rest over me and I feel encouraged to accept them earlier this year. Yet, other than these life changes that occur every year before my birthday in November, are the wardrobe changes that begin to take place in late September. Fall is by far my favorite season for fashion. It is the perfect time to experiment with new trends, while still holding on to go-to looks. Flannels, beanies, comfy layers, and cozy sweaters will always be staples in my fall wardrobe but I'm also really excited for cool new styles of boots, hats, and other accessories this season. Classic autumn apparel has been calling my name in recent weeks, but the sun is still shining a little too bright to put my denim cut offs away just yet.
As a nod to last year's fall, the new changes ahead, and good ol' fall fashion, here's a shoot from last October taken in charming woods of Pennsylvania. I hope the thought of the beauty in the months ahead also makes you yearn for a mug of spiced apple cider, the smoky fragance of a campire, and the crunch of leaves while traipsing through a golden forest.
